BURGER HUNT PT. 4: LUCKY BOY with Gino Belassen

”Damn, I wonder if that place is any good”

- You. If you have ever driven down 16th St.

Lucky Boy Burgers, straight outta the 1960s, sweet old building, painted windows, and an inside dining area that can fit two handfuls of people.

SO, OF COURSE, we had to add it to the burger hunt! When we got there, there were some construction workers and police officers lunching. (I have a theory that construction workers know where the best spots to eat are). That was a good sign.

When we ordered, we kept it relatively simple, three burgers, onion rings, fries, and a chocolate malt.

If you read Burger Hunt Pt. 2, you know, we are big shake/malt fans.

Well guess what, this malt didn’t disappoint. To make things even better, their fries … are perfect for dipping into that sweet, sweet malty goodness.

The fries were crispy yet airy, thick but not too thick, ideal.

The onion rings, on the other hand … not so bueno. PERSONALLY, we are fans of the onion rings with a piece of actual onion in it, you know, sometimes you get all of the onion in one bite. These were not that. These were a bunch of chopped onions formed into a mold, the idea is good, but the texture was off.

Ok, now we can talk about burgers.

LUCKY BOY BURGER REVIEWS:

“The Control”:

Ahh, this one wasn’t hitting for us today. We only got a single patty with onion and house sauce; we probably should have got a double patty. This burger was lacking… especial when compared to the others.

Triple Bacon Cheeseburger:

God damn! This is the burger, I mean we went a a couple weeks ago, and Bryan is still talking about this. The three patties might be a little over the top; maybe go for a double, no one really needs three patties.

The Lucky Boy Classic (Double cheeseburger with Everything on it)

This is a good burger! Nothing to tell your mom about, but for sure, a burger to crush if you are in the neighborhood.

If you are looking for a cool little spot, and what to try something new, go check this spot out. It is worth the trip inside. After, if you are up for it, there is an excellent Middle Eastern Bakery that makes a killer rosewater lemonade (Gino secret)
