THE HUNT FOR THE BEST BURGER SHOP IN PHOENIX
“A burger is a beautiful thing, it’s not beautiful when you are wearing half of it” - Anthony Bourdain
Before we start this burger hunt, we must consider, what makes a good burger? After all, the burger is an American classic, but as Americans do best, we like to do things “differently” … more often than not, this, this act of being different, ruins the whole experience.
So what makes a great burger? This is OUR TAKE!
We have created ranking categories to make it easier for us to properly rank the “best” burger in Phoenix. We will rate each category from 1-5 (five being the highest) The categories are:
Crushable: Can this burger be consumed on a regular basis? Easy to eat? Not overwhelming. Will eat half the burger/all of it before touching your fries or drink?
Patty: Can’t be too greasy. Can’t be lacking in grease. Shouldn’t be too thick or too thin.
Bun: The bun shouldn’t be overwhelming, the meat to bread ratio should be equal. The bun should bring some flavor to the party, it’s not just something that holds it all together.
Holdability: You should be able to eat a burger with one hand comfortably … If I want to eat a burger in the car, will it ruin my pants? It shouldn’t.
Size: Can’t stress this enough … size does matter! Unlike what you want me to say … bigger is NOT better when it comes to burgers.
During this hunt, we will have help rating burgers from a couple of different people in the community. TJ Culp (chef and owner of Restaurant Progress) Olivia Girard (The Dinersaur), Gino Belassen (Artist, Owner of Belhaus) and maybe some more … time will tell.
Thank you for your continued support!
