For the Love of Sandwiches: McGurkee's
Part One: McGurkee’s
Bread can either make or break a sandwich, I could argue that it is the most important aspect of the sandwich. Let me tell you McGurkee’s bread is next level. Their toasted sesame seed bread is one of a kind (at least here in Phoenix, and to my knowledge.)
I have been going to McGurkey’s for a couple of years now, it is one of my favorite places to take my friends or fam. It is centrally-located, 15th Ave and Thomas, and they are always good.
I ALWAYS get the Super Sicilian! 100% of the time. This is the move. I think this is the only move, if I am feeling like a dirty boy, I willget the meatball sub! But meatball subs require a different mindset, and I feel like that is a nighttime sandwich.
My buddy Cole is a vegetarian, he loves their veg sandwich, but I eat meat … so that’s not for me.
I can’t speak on the other subs here, and I can’t speak on the other dishes they offer. If you have had their other stuff and think the world should know, let me know I would happily add it to this blog post!
They have a patio in the back that is pretty cool and “vibey” sorry for saying that but that is how I feel. I personally like eating the sandwiches there, fresh and toasted. Taking them to-go is still a solid move, but you risk sacrificing some of that CRISP!
Ok! Thanks for reading forks!
Love,
Sid
